The Quest for the Chalice

Published August 19, 2012 by nurseracquet

Alas, another year has passed, and the maidens and knights of the castle in the Land of the Pleasant once again rode into the Land of Ruby to fight a fierce battle to reclaim the sacred chalice. The battle began at dusk on a warm but windy summer night.  The knights and maidens of the wooded castle combined forces on the front lines to try and catch the Ruby Knights of Templar in the middle of their usually vulnerable wine-tasting hour. The gate scouts must have warned the Rubyites that a raid was approaching.

The knights and maidens knew that the Rubyites would not easily give up the sacred chalice due to coveting it for their daily wine-guzzling. A few maidens and knights escaped without injury. However, the ruthless Ruby men ravaged most of the maidens, and some knights were practically beheaded.

The Castle army retreated to their castle, in the land of the Pleasant, to regroup and storm the Ruby gates at dawn on another battle for the sacred chalice. The maidens and knights drew their racquets and again fought a fierce battle with some success. After the battle raged for several hours, the SwanPrince drew his racquet and took on the feared Cyclops and his young warrior. The Cyclops made unearthly growls as he shot his arsenal at SwanPrince until Cyclops beat his chest and bellowed in victory. As nightfall approached, the Castle army again retreated to plan one last attack to capture the chalice.

Why is this chalice so meaningful to the people of the wooded Castle that such importance is placed on recapturing it? Biblical historians report that the Holy Grail was the cup used by Jesus to consecrate the wine at The Last Supper and is held in high esteem in Christianity as a symbol for the bread of life. Since the time of Christ, there has been a quest to find this Holy Chalice and cherish it for what it represents, but no one agrees where it is hidden. Many myths have been proposed as to its whereabouts in modern times. The Pleasant people of the Castle believe that the sacred cup resides in the Land of the Ruby Knights of the Templar and they will never give up on controlling where it rests. For the time being, the sacred chalice will remain hidden in the secret wine caves of the Ruby Knights of Templar. Still, the maidens and knights of the Castle from the land of the Pleasant will never lose faith that the ultimate battle will be waged. The Rubyites will be defeated, returning the chalice to a place where it will be honored.

Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus

Throughout the year I have noticed for the real first time in my life how different men and women really are.  Working in professional fields with mostly women I think I am a slow learner on this subject.  In the last year, I became Captain/Co-Captain of some tennis teams in which I consulted with a tennis pro who gave guidance in how to operate a team.  During this time it became very clear, and interesting, that men think differently than women in team sports.  I really like how men approach conflict and competition.  Men are basic and simple, but women can be much more complicated in their approach.

Recently, for the first time I played on a mixed doubles team with men and women.  Now I see that men and women not only are different in their thought process regarding team sports, but also how they play the game.  Men seem to be born with a natural wicked slice, spin, and serves that I would describe as funky.  Men also tend to run around very “spaz like”, moving all over the net in the blink of an eye, hitting sharp angles straight down at opponents in an unpredictable way. It works, but seems very strange, yet most do this. Men also focus on the weak link and target that person, like a lion picking off a baby gazelle from the herd, they have no mercy. Survival skills I guess?  Some men even will sacrifice their life and limb to get a ball. Putting all this experience together, I definitely think men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Is it really possible to create a federation of planets, Captain Kirk?
